AURO Alpha Gameplay Video & Our New Programmer!

Hey everyone!  It’s time to show off our wonderful alpha version.  There’s some narration by our lead designer (me!) and some annotations, too.  Please let us know what you think so far.

Also we’d like to take this time to announce that Andrew Furst (who you may have heard on last week’s Dinofarm Podcast) has joined our team as lead programmer.  He’s been helping us out for a few weeks now and is responsible for a lot of the great changes you’re seeing in the above video.  Hooray!

    While I have seen the earlier alpha builds, this looks better by a few orders of magnitude. I recently stumbled upon this and I loved it and think you should check it out.

    Sold. I hope your ‘step on as many toes as possible’ approach to PR doesn’t cost you too many sales, because your game looks great.

        I guess he’s talking about some toes of people over at reddit who believe today’s video “games” are what games really are all about? I wouldn’t call it a ‘step on toes’ PR though, because that’s not the intention at all. It’s just the honest result of some serious thinking about games and game design. Many people will still feel stepped on their toes, though. But others who actually care and think about the subject themselves will on the other hand appreciate the ideas (and the game) even more. I’m hoping there’ll be quite a few of the latter. ;)

    Looks awesome!

    Quick question re: training… You mentioned that when the player learns their new abilities, a brief animation plays showing how it works. Will there be something similar for the scroll-based abilities that aren’t copies of the core abilities? Just wondering how the player will know how those work.

      Very good question, Dave. I think there will be a manual entry which will at least have a text description for scroll abilities. Not sure if we’ll have animations for them.
